The problem
Tidal's 30-person compliance team answered policy questions over Slack from the wider firm. Each one took 6–12 minutes to look up. They had 1,400 policy docs spread across SharePoint and PDFs.
Our approach
Indexed all 1,400 docs in pgvector with embedding chunks tuned for policy text. Built a Slack bot that returns sourced answers with document citations. Human review queue for low-confidence answers.
Outcome
Median answer time fell from 9 minutes to 70 seconds. 41% of routine questions answered without human review. Compliance team redirected ~10 hours per week to higher-value advisory work.
